Robert G. Peters, 90, of Manor Township, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Bob was born in Manor Twp., son of the late Earl C. and May A. Brown Peters. He was a carpenter, having worked for Wilson’s and Nissley Bridge Builders, working at Bear Creek Dam and various school projects. He attended Central Manor Church of God; was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving during WWII. Bob enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, planes, steam engines, and attending the yearly Threshermen’s Reunion at Kinzer’s.

He is survived by his sisters: Janet Yoder, Mountville; and Aletha (Joel) Groff, Hellam. One brother: Kenneth (Gayle) Peters, Washington Boro. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Earl, Donald, Richard, and V. Allen Peters.

The Funeral Service will be held at Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn Street, Washington Boro, PA 17582 on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Scott Davis, officiating. Annelise Esperanza Silveira, infant daughter of Abel M. and Tiffany N. Ritter Silveira, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Women and Babies Hospital.

Clair A. Kendig, 82, of Millersville, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine J. Groff Kendig with whom he would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on December 1, 2017. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Charles H. and Mae E. Rhoades Kendig. He worked as an upholsterer for Flex Steel prior to driving school bus and working as the Head Building Custodian at Hambright Elementary School for 30 years before retiring in 1990. Following retirement, he worked for Office Works. Clair was a member of Kready Avenue Evangelical CongregationalChurch and attended Central Manor Church of God. He loved gardening, his 1970 Economy Tractor, Chevy trucks, woodworking, going to Roots Market and Flea Market, Dairy Queen for banana splits, tinkering on small engines, and watching old Western programs including John Wayne and the Lone Ranger. Clair was always eager to lend a helping hand to others.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one son: Jeffrey M. (Judy A.) Kendig, Lancaster. Two granddaughters: Kimberly S. (John) Martin, Strasburg; and Amy M. (Perry) Tolos, Longwood, FL. Four great-grandchildren: Makenna and Kaylee Martin; and Nolan and Nychole Tolos. One brother: Larry V. (Shirley) Kendig, Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by one brother: Charles Kendig, and one sister: Gladys Barley.

Mary Elizabeth Fisher, 92, of St. Anne’s Retirement Community, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Daniel S. Fisher, III, who passed away on October 5, 1990. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Jacob F. Haas and Loretta Abel Haas Barthold Myers. She was a waitress for many years at the BPOE #134, Lancaster. Mary was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church where she did quilting, and enjoyed flowers, needle work, and embroidery.

She is survived by her children: Daniel L. (Diane L.) Fisher, Lancaster; Frederick W. (Kathleen Snider) Fisher, Furlong, PA; Gayle L. (Kenneth D.) Peters, Washington Boro; and Byron S. (Mary E.) Fisher, Columbia. Ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Niece: Pamela Duke, Fayetteville, NC. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Daniel W. Fisher, and one brother: John Barthold.

Charlotte M. Thomas, 79, of Conestoga View, devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born in York, daughter of the late Harold L. and Bertha Leipart Shenberger. Charlotte attended First Baptist Church, loved animals, especially her dogs, and music. She loved her family, enjoying cooking for and taking care of them.

She is survived by her children: Sharon L. (Melvin) Brooks, Dillsburg; Coy L. (Jenifer) Thomas, Jr., Millersville; Vickie E. (Bruce) Jones, Elizabethtown; Bradley E. (Rhonda) Thomas, Conestoga; Brian K. (Paula) Thomas, Holtwood; Daryl M. (Dianna) Thomas, Columbia; and Jodi L. (Bradley) Thompson, Conestoga. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. One sister: Thelma J. Hunter, Mechanicsburg.

The Family would like to thank the staff at Conestoga View for the compassion and loving care shown to them.

Mark L. Fischer, 29, of Columbia, went to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at home. He was born in Lancaster, son of Perry D. Fischer, Columbia and Deborah S. Clark, Wrightsville. He worked as a tree remover for Green's Tree Service, Elizabethtown. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, working on cars, and spending time with his two daughters.

Surviving in addition to his parents, two daughters: Madison and Makenna Fischer. His companion: Kierston E. Marvel. Paternal grandmother: Harriet Horn. Maternal grandmother: Shirley Clark. Five brothers: Perry Fischer, Jr., Gary Fischer, Dean Fischer, Jeffrey Fischer, and Scott Fischer. Seven sisters: Jennifer Clark, Pamela Fischer, Lis Fischer, Christine Fischer, Trisha Towles, Renee Cruz, and Abbey Wholaver. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy E."Dottie" Aulthouse Kopp

Dorothy Elizabeth Kopp, 95 years young, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Masonic Village surrounded by her family and dear friends. Dottie, formerly of Columbia, and Lancaster, was the daughter of the late George C. Aulthouse and Elizabeth Steffy Aulthouse Mease, and step-daughter of Harry K. Mease. Dottie was a 1940 graduate of Columbia High School, where she served as Class Secretary in her Junior and Senior years. She enjoyed many school clubs, and was also a cheerleader in her Senior year. She was a 70 year member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, as well as serving on other church committees. Dottie will be greatly remembered for her service as Director of the Otterbein UMC Senior Citizens Group, for 35 years. She planned and accompanied her seniors on many trips and activities through the years (and even toted her granddaughters along on occasion). Dottie was one of the first Girl Scout Leaders in Manheim Township; was a Counselor at Children’s Camp at Mt. Gretna; and later served as Director of Senior Camp at Gretna Glen. In addition to her service to others, she had an interesting working career. She was a well-known teller for Farmer’s First Bank and Bank of Lancaster County, where her customers (and their pets, who knew Dottie had treats) looked forward to seeing her at the teller window. She later worked for the Cashiering and Admission’s Departments at Franklin and Marshall College, Watt & Shand Department Store, and eventually retired from the former St. Joseph Hospital. After retiring, she moved back “home” to Columbia where she and her many friends enjoyed each other’s comradery at St. Peter’s Apartments, where she lived through 2015.

Dottie is survived by her daughter: Marilyn J. McKain, Landisville. Her son: Mark R. (Becky) Kopp, East Petersburg. Her son-in-law: Howard Mundorf, Lancaster. Her nephew: Michael (Sharon) Fritz, Mount Joy. She is also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren: Tedd (Sharon) McKain, Raleigh, NC; Doug (Susan) McKain, Lititz; Gay Erb, Lancaster; Jill McKain, Manheim; Matthew (Natalie) Mundorf, Lancaster; Angela McKain, Mountville; Julie (Mark) Boldizar, Lancaster; and Alexander (fiancé: Laura Gathercole) Kopp, Rosedale, MD. Thirteen cherished great-grandchildren. Five great-great-grandchildren. Two great nieces and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Karen S. Mundorf. Son-in-law: George “Ted” McKain. Her sister: Betty Jane Fritz.

Mary Belle Schauer

Mary Belle Thomas Schauer, of Lancaster, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 7, 2017.  She was the wife of the late Wilbert E. “Bill” Schauer, to whom she was married for over 60 years before he passed away on March 2, 2009. She was born in Springfield, OH, daughter of Howard W. and Agnes G. Steele Thomas, formerly of Holtwood. Her father was a native of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and her mother of Springfield, OH and she was raised in the Shenandoah Valley and then was a resident of Lancaster County for many years. She was a professional tour guide for many years and trained for four Pennsylvania Counties and Delaware where she enjoyed the people and the history. Mary Belle’s high school album referred to her as “Skylark” and always looking for the ‘’up” side of life. She attended classes at Lancaster Bible College, three years home-study from Rhema Bible College, and many other courses of the Bible. She had been a member of the Worship Center for over 20 years, and was involved in the Children’s Ministry for over 12 years. She was a member of Zion Church of Millersville, and loved God and his word.

She is survived by two sons: Thomas E. Schauer, Ontario, Canada; and Gerald W. (Sharon) Schauer, Lancaster. One daughter: Sandra Lee (Steve) Sacoolas, Granite Bay, CA. Seven grandchildren. Seven great-grandchildren. Four great-great-grandchildren. One sister: June Weidman, Conestoga. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Stanley, Marvin, George, and Albert. One sister: Helen.

The Funeral Service will be held at Zion Church of Millersville, 317 North George Street, Millersville, PA 17551 on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Stephen P. Cote, officiating. Verna I. Keeport, 99, of the Mennonite Home and lifelong resident of Manor Township, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Amos H. Keeport, who passed away on September 15, 1995. She was born in Manor Twp., daughter of the late Martin G. and Ida Harnish Sauder. Verna was the oldest member of Millersville Mennonite Church. She enjoyed flowers, plants, and doing jigsaw and word-search puzzles. Verna was concerned about other people and helping them in any way she could.

She is survived by her children: Grace I. (Assefa) Haile; Evelyn R. Mellinger; Robert E. (Linda M.) Keeport; and Anna Mae (Marvin) Fultz. Nine grandchildren. Fifteen great-grandchildren. Two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son: Amos S. Keeport. Two brothers and four sisters.

Ronald J. Crockett, 76, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the husband of Erma B. Hetrick Crockett, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on August 23, 2017. He was born in Loysville, son of the late Charles H. and Annabelle Ricedorf Crockett. He was a custom cabinet maker for Signature Custom Cabinets, Ephrata, and was an over-the-road truck driver. Ron was a veteran of the US Army and he enjoyed word search puzzles, riding motorcycles, and dining out.

Surviving in addition to his wife, his siblings: Gary Crockett, Paul (Terri) Ickes, Pauline Ickes, Larry (Carol) Ickes, David Ickes, Tina Ickes, Vicky Ickes, and Terry Ickes. One foster sister: Elizabeth Waltman. Several nieces and nephews.

Brian C. Schlotthauer, 62, of Lancaster, formerly of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Charles H. and Ruth Leader Schlotthauer. Brian was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was an Executive Chef having worked for various Lancaster County establishments for 20 years and taught for 17 years at Lancaster Career and Technology Center, Willow Street. Even though he struggled with reading in school, his parents taught him to “never give up”. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers with his son; he loved animals; and he reached out to family’s with members struggling with addiction problems.

He is survived by his son: Zachary B. (Sara E.) Schlotthauer, Manheim. One grandson: Tobias Z. Schlotthauer. One brother: Michael (Peg) Schlotthauer, Columbia. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert M. Miller, Sr., 82, of Washington Boro, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was the husband of the late Phyllis E. Miller, who passed away in 1998. He was born in Manor Twp., son of the late Warren N. and Elizabeth Ortman Miller. He was a set-up and repairman for Campbell Chain Company, York for 24 years before his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars, helping out on the family farm, and loved his dog “Peaches”.

He is survived by one daughter: Debra S. (Ronald G.) Goe, Washington Boro. Two sons: Robert M. (Tina) Miller, Jr., Columbia; and Mark E. Miller (companion of Tammie), Wrightsville. Eight grandchildren. Twelve great-grandchildren. One brother: Nelson Miller, Morgantown. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Jody Ann Miller; companion: Dot; three brothers; two step-brothers; and two step-sisters.

L. Adele King, 57, of Mountville, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017. She was the wife of H. Tracy King, with whom she would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on September 29, 2017. She was born in Lancaster County, daughter of Ada Westenhoefer Lindemuth, Mountville, and the late Leroy S. Lindemuth. Adele was the manager in the Clinical Coding Department at Lancaster General Hospital for 29 years. She was a graduate of York College with a Medical Records Degree; a longtime member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church; enjoyed going to her son’s sporting events; gardening; was a Penn State football fan; going to the cabin at State College and the beach at Ocean City, MD.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, two sons: Jared S. (Krystal L.) King, New Cumberland; and Joshua T. King, Arlington, VA. One brother: Philip L. (Julie) Lindemuth, Huntingdon, PA.

Robert J. Keagy

Robert J. Keagy, 87, of Manor Township, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017. He was the husband of Vera S. Habecker Keagy, with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on April 14, 2017. He was born in Manor Twp., son of the late Joseph J. and Katie Dombach Keagy. He owned and operated the family business, Keagy Produce since 1968 and enjoyed going to various market stands. He was a very faithful person and was a member of Habecker Mennonite Church. He enjoyed fishing in the Susquehanna River, and small game hunting.

Surviving in addition to his wife, his children: Kenneth R. (Vicki L.) Keagy; N. Ray Keagy; Mervin R. Keagy; Shirley M. (Michael W.) Williams; and Kathy M. (Gregory T.) Markward. Five grandchildren: Jennifer A. Keagy, and companion Andrew Gerald; Christopher R. (Mary) Keagy; Dylan T. Keagy; Jessica M. Markward; and Alyssa K. Markward. One great-grandson: Brodie A. Gerald. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles Keagy and Paul Keagy, Sr. One sister: Verna Eshbach.

Franklin H. McKonly, 78, of West Hempfield Twp., passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at home. He was the husband of Jacqulyn D. Fisher McKonly with whom he would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2017. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Henry F. and Elizabeth Hess McKonly. He worked for McMinn’s Asphalt for 21 years and drove tractor trailer for Marty Strickler for 35 years before his retirement in 2007.  Frank was a charter member of Hempfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing with Bill Elliott being his favorite driver or any other driver who drove a Ford. He built the steamer for his family corn roast. He enjoyed going to the horse shows at the Columbia Riding Club, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was also known for his homemade ice cream.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two daughters: Faith A. (David M.) Gui, Paxtang, and Hope A. McKonly, West Hempfield Twp. One son: Frank H. McKonly, Jr., West Hempfield Twp. Six grandchildren: Rebecca, Emily, Kathryn, Edward, Hannah, and Frank, III. Five great-grandchildren: Declan, Evelyn, Liam, Clara Rose, and Aidan. Two brothers: Henry F. (Patricia) McKonly, Mechanicsburg and Donald E. (Rocki) McKonly, Wrightsville. Three sisters: Marian (William, Jr.) Fry, Columbia; Patricia Keck, Lancaster; and Brenda McKonly, Cape Cod, MA. He was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Harold McKonly. Four sisters: H. Louise Lutz, Susan Brommer, Thelma Farley, and Sandra Sandoe.

The Funeral Service will be held at Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA 17601 on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with his niece, Pastor Melinda L. Joanne A. Murry, 83, of Mountville passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Richard B. Murry. Joanne was born in Columbia, daughter of the late William and Arvena Weitzel. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and enjoyed crafts, vacationing, bowling, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons: Rick W. (Stacy) Murry, Lancaster and Brian L. “Jake” Murry, Mountville. One daughter: Karen E. Mellinger, Mountville. Three grandchildren: Jennifer, Angela, and Monica. Three great-grandchildren: Alexis, Aiden, and Caleb. One great-granddaughter: Aira, who is on the way. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Brenda Lynn Murry, and one sister: Dottie.

Keith E. Lilly, 58, of Mountville, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the husband of Fawn D. Stephenson Lilly with whom he would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on September 7, 2017. He was born in Hershey, son of the late Elmer E. and Dorles I. Spille Lilly. He worked in the printing industry for 20 years and was a private contractor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, motorcycle enthusiast, and he loved hiking and the outdoors.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two brothers: Mark (Sue) Lilly and Lynn (Deb) Lilly. One sister in law: Lisa Stephenson and her partner Michele Benham. Numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

The Graveside Service and Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Full Military Honors. Please omit flowers. G. Elizabeth Gestewitz, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was the wife of Raymond G. Gestewitz, with whom she celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on February 24, 2017. She was born in Washington, DC., daughter of the late Alfred A. and Edith Whalen Freysz and was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked at Baltimore City Hospital and Lancaster General Hospital. She also worked in the cafeteria at various schools in the Hempfield School District before her retirement; was a member of Lancaster Church of the Nazarene; life-member of the ladies auxiliary for West Hempfield Fire and Rescue Company; a Girl Scout leader for many years; was a volunteer at the Indian Reservation in Albuquerque, NM; and also delivered Meals-On-Wheels.

Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Carolyn M. (Robert E.) Hancock; one son: Samuel R. Gestewitz. One step-daughter: Raymonda (Clifford) Leaman. Eight grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren. Two brothers: Alfred Freysz, Jr. and Thomas (Bertie) Freysz.
